Lauren and Robert: A Summer Elopement in Durham
Lauren and Robert reached out to me at the beginning of the summer this year about capturing their private elopement just outside of Durham and, as soon as I hopped on the phone with them, I knew I wanted to help them capture their day. Lauren talked about how they wanted a day that celebrated their unique love story and was just about them. I was more than happy to help them have exactly that.
Lauren and Robert picked an absolutely perfect venue for their elopement. Windy Hill Farm is a dream for intimate weddings and elopements. Every time that I get to capture someone’s day there, I feel like I find a new, unique spot for photos. It is a venue that shows off in every season. With Lauren and Robert’s elopement being in the late summer, we were able to really take advantage of the lush foliage and greenery all over the venue.
Lauren and Robert started their elopement by helping each other get ready. While I do love a first look or when couples have a big reveal coming down the aisle, there is a really special intimacy that is fostered when couples help each other into their wedding clothes before their ceremony. After getting ready, we took some time and explored the grounds. We were obsessed with how the light filtered into the attached greenhouse and created a soft, romantic glow for Lauren and Robert to share a few private moments.
Lauren and Robert chose to exchange their vows under a sweeping tree decorated with fairy lights. Their ceremony was short and sweet, just like they wanted. After enjoying some cake and taking a few more photos around the property, we hopped in our cars and headed off to have a gourmet wedding dinner (Jk, it was at McDonalds and was freaking delicious).
Lauren and Roberts late summer elopement outside of Durham was filled to the brim with personal touches and authentic moments. Every moment of the day was meant to be a celebration of their unique story and the love that they shared.
